No ‘Premalu 2’ Anytime Soon: Fans Left Waiting!

Fans of Premalu 2, the sequel to 2024 Malayalam hit of the same title starring Naslen and Mamitha Baiju, have been waiting for the film to arrive in theatres. 

However, it seems that the film is getting delayed inordinately time and again.

Actor-director and co-producer Dileesh Pothan has confirmed the same in a recent interview. 

After Premalu’s successful run in theatres, the makers commenced the shoot of the sequel in April last year. However, the team hasn’t yet resumed work on the second part, Pothan said in the interview. 

He said his next project is not going to be Premalu 2 but another directorial venture of Girish AD. He said it is still uncertain as to when the team would resume Premalu 2.

So the team is prioritising other films and fans should expect no filming or updates about it in the near future.

Premalu took movielovers by surprise with its humour and quirkiness when it arrived in theatres in 2024. 

The film follows the story of a youngster named Sachin, who hails from Kerala, struggles to get a visa to work abroad. He ends up shifting to Hyderabad with the help of his friend and eventually bumps into Reenu, an IT professional in the city. 

How their friendship turns into love with their confused state of mind in dealing with situations — forms the crux of the story.
