Already, exhibitors are struggling to run theatres in Telugu states and on top of that, all new releases are ending up as disasters at the box office. Last week, we had Thug Life releasing in theatres, which ended up as a massive disappointment.
This week, Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu was supposed to hit the screens, but got postponed once again. As a result, no notable film hit the screens, except for a few small-budget movies.
As there are no big films in theatres at all, exhibitors and film buffs are surviving with re-releases. Hanu Raghavapudi’s 2012 romantic drama “Andala Rakshasi” was rereleased today. Thanks to its terrific music and a good following among the millennials, Andala Rakshasi has been getting good collections in Hyderabad.
On the other side, Pawan Kalyan fans, who are disappointed by HHVM’s postponment, are satisfying themselves by re-releasing Tholi Prema once again. Meanwhile, Ravi Teja’s iconic film Venky has also been re-released once again today, and it’s testing its luck at the box office.
To sum it up, the theatre woes continue in June as well, and exhibitors are praying for one good film to revive their businesses. All eyes are on Kubera, which is set for its release next Friday. Let’s see if this Dhanush and Nagarjuna-starrer film will bring back the glory to theatres.
