Lokesh Kanagaraj Begins Martial Arts Training for Acting Debut

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who made a name for himself with films like Kaithi, Master, Vikram, and Leo, is all set to make his debut as an actor. This upcoming film will be directed by Arun Matheswaran, best known for Captain Miller. According to reports, Lokesh is currently in Thailand, undergoing martial arts training to prepare for his role in the action-packed film.

The project marks a new chapter in Lokesh’s career, as he takes a break from directing to face the camera. Sources say he will complete this film before moving on to direct Kaithi 2, the sequel to his breakout hit starring Karthi. After that, he’s set to collaborate with Aamir Khan on a superhero film, as confirmed by Aamir himself.

Meanwhile, Lokesh is also busy with the post-production of Coolie, his much-awaited film with Superstar Rajinikanth. Slated for release on August 14, Coolie has already grabbed attention with its grand scale and special cameos by Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna and Upendra.

Coolie revolves around the theme of gold smuggling. Lokesh has clarified that it will be a standalone project, not connected to his Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). The film also stars Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, and Reba Monica John in key roles. Music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and the film is being produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures.
