Will Vetri’s VCU Compete With Lokesh’s LCU?

Director Vetrimaaran confirmed that he would be collaborating with actor Simbu for his next film. He also clarified that it would not be Vada Chennai 2, as speculated in the media. However, Vetrimaaran confirmed that this new film will be set in the same Vada Chennai universe. This announcement proves that after the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), the Tamil film industry is now getting another cinematic universe from Vetrimaaran.

Vetrimaaran said that the film with Simbu takes place in the same timeline as Vada Chennai and will have a few elements from that movie too. Earlier, Vetrimaaran also said that there will be Vada Chennai 2 as well. So, with all three films, he is building a cinematic universe which fans are calling the “Vetrimaaran Cinematic Universe (VCU)”.

Lokesh started his LCU with Kaithi and continued it with Vikram and Leo. Apart from that, Rolex, Kaithi 2, and Vikram 2 will also be made in the future. Now, fans are expecting VCU to also come up with such interesting projects from the same world. However, considering Vetrimaaran’s style of work and the time he takes for every project, we may not see any more projects other than the Simbu film and Vada Chennai 2, as of now.
