War 2 Telugu Rights Acquired by Sithara Naga Vamsi

Sithara Entertainments, headed by Naga Vamsi, has secured the Telugu states theatrical rights for War 2, the upcoming action sequel from Yash Raj Films (YRF). The film is part of YRF’s expanding Spy Universe and features Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR in lead roles.

YRF, which usually handles its own distribution in major markets, initially planned to do the same. However, they have now opted to partner with a local distributor for the Telugu states, considering Jr NTR’s strong following in the region. According to sources, the rights were initially quoted at ₹100 crore, with the final deal reportedly closing at around ₹80 crore.

Sithara Entertainments recently entered large-scale distribution with Devara, also starring Jr NTR. The film’s Telugu rights were acquired for around ₹120 crore and saw a solid response at the box office. War 2 is directed by Ayan Mukerji and serves as a sequel to the 2019 hit War. Production is nearing completion, with only a song sequence left to shoot.

The film is scheduled for release on August 14, the same day as Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, which has also locked its Telugu release through Asian Multiplexes — Suniel Narang, Suresh Babu and Dil Raju for a reported ₹50 crore. Both films will release in dubbed versions for the Telugu market. The Independence Day weekend is expected to be a competitive period for distributors and exhibitors across the telugu states.
