Preparations are underway to organise 500+ early morning shows for WAR 2 in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. While plans are being made for screenings to begin from 5 AM, official permissions from the respective state governments are yet to be granted.
Sithara Entertainments, which has acquired the Telugu states’ theatrical rights for approximately ₹80 crore, is coordinating with distributors and theatre chains for the early shows. The decision comes in view of Jr NTR’s presence in the film, as he enjoys a strong following in the region.
In the past, Jr NTR’s films have witnessed significant opening day numbers in the Telugu states. His last release, Devara, which hit screens last year, saw around 500-550 shows at 1 AM and became the second biggest opening day after RRR, while RRR still holds the record for the highest opening day collections in the region.
If permissions are granted, WAR 2 could set a new benchmark for a non-Telugu film in terms of early morning screenings and opening day performance.
WAR 2 is directed by Ayan Mukerji and stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. The film is part of Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe, which includes previous releases like Pathaan and Tiger 3.
Final confirmation regarding the early shows will depend on the necessary government approvals. Until then, exhibitors and distributors are making logistical preparations in anticipation of the demand. WAR 2 is slated for a pan-India release on August 14th.
