Actor Prakash Raj, though originally from Karnataka, has made a deep mark in Telugu cinema with countless memorable performances. While legendary actor Kota Srinivasa Rao always respected Prakash Raj’s acting talent, he also held strong views about giving more opportunities to native Telugu actors over those from other language backgrounds.

During the MAA elections a few years ago, Kota openly criticized the growing trend of offering key roles to non-Telugu actors comments that were widely believed to be aimed at Prakash Raj. This led many to believe there was friction between the two.

However, in an emotional tribute following Kota’s passing, Prakash Raj clarified that there was mutual respect and even friendship between them. He recalled how he was inspired by Kota’s performances long before entering the Telugu industry. According to him, Kota’s command over acting left a deep impression on him and influenced his journey as an artist.

After years in the industry, Prakash had the chance to share screen space with Kota in several films. He described Kota as a “unique personality” who wasn’t easily pleased and didn’t hesitate to speak his mind.

Prakash also remembered a moment when someone questioned Kota about why he supported an outsider like him. In response, Kota had reportedly said, “He’s no outsider. Prakash has learned Telugu. He’s one of us now.” Prakash said such moments proved Kota’s integrity and fairness.

He also recalled a recent film shoot with Ali, Brahmanandam, and Brahmaji when they were reminded of Kota. Learning about his health issues, Prakash Raj personally called him and invited him to the set. Kota came, spent time with them, and lightened the mood with his signature wit.
