After creating a sensation in Telugu with Arjun Reddy and shaking up Bollywood with its Hindi remake Kabir Singh, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga took things to another level with Animal. The film was a massive box office hit, but also faced severe criticism from several Bollywood personalities including Javed Akhtar. While Sandeep strongly defended his film, many who liked it chose to stay silent due to the backlash.
One of them was Bollywood director Mohit Suri, known for hits like Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain. In a recent interview during promotions of his new film Saiyaara, Mohit openly admitted he is a big fan of Sandeep. He said he absolutely loved Animal and felt the director’s unique style was visible in every frame.
Mohit revealed that he had personally messaged Sandeep after watching the film, but didn’t speak publicly in support because of the negativity around the film at the time. He said that was a mistake on his part and publicly apologized to Sandeep for not showing his support when it mattered.
He praised Sandeep as a very genuine filmmaker who makes movies with honesty and conviction.
