Coronavirus pandemic is one of the most challenges times of Human race across the globe with millions of people effected and thousands of deaths reported. Even in India, the positive cases have been growing and the Government is doing everything possible to control this from growing further.
Besides Government, lot of Corporates, NGO’s, High Net worth Individuals and Film Celebrities etc have been seen giving donations, spreading safety precautions and hope messages.
Most of these donations are give to PM/CM relief funds and such specific Industry related funds created (CCC for Telugu film Industry) and the government or NGO shall take care of operations. However, Vijay Deverakonda has taken an extra step of creating his own fund – MIDDLE CLASS FUND(MCF) and started reaching people directing by helping them donating ration.
Where he could have just donated the money to existing organizations, his idea was to reach those unattended middle class directly who are ‘neither too poor to wait for government to help’ and ‘not rich to stay self-sufficient’. This is not any normal task as this needs huge team and logistics and continuous monitoring.
While money is one part, during this lockdown mobilising all these other resources is equally challenging. Yet Vijay Deverakonda has ventured into creating this MIDDLE CLASS FUND by donating 25 lacs from his side which could help 2500 families directly. But Thanks to the people faith on his and his MCF, he has received 50 lacs donations already.
This makes him capable of helping 7500 families and he has whole heartedly thanked all the donors who have made his MCF reach more people.
However, there are lot of applications pouring in on his website – www.thedeverakondafoundation.org and the count is increasing with each passing day. There are more than 70,000 applications received vs 7500 families that could be currently supported through MCF.
Hence, Vijay had to hold taking further applications. Infact, Vijay has been transparently giving real time updates on his website on how many families been supported so far and how much more fund is left to further support. He also gives daily status updates every night on MCF activity done.
It is disheartening that still there are many who could not be supported, but his fund limitations are known to all through his website & daily status updates. Now what has been started to support 2500 families could go up to 7500 families. This is 300% of his target which itself is big. But if there are 70,000 families, then this needs 7 crore or more. As an Individual, one cannot go beyond his limitations and attend everyone who is in need.
Vijay could have just donated 25 lacs to other organization and silently stay home or select an area of needy and just attend them. But he has taken a great challenge of reaching the real needy who had no one to attend and has created this whole system of introducing MIDDLE CLASS FUND. Plus inspired many other people to donate/walk along with him to reach more people.
Also, his Foundation team are talking to every application received, validating the real need and trying their best to ensure only real needy gets benefited. Its welcome note to see many applicants drop out on their own when the team says – “If you are not in need and take these provisions, then please note unknowingly you are blocking the real needy family to get this”. It’s a collective effort and each team member, volunteer and even the applicants shall be appreciated for being honest and genuine.
But if in case, anyone is expecting him to make good the entire society all by himself – that is not practical. If there is need for blood, one can donate 1 or max 2 units of blood but cannot give all which will kill himself. However, it is healthy to regularly donate for long term and that shall be the process. So, one can do within his limitations and Vijay has already gone beyond and inspired few more and made a bigger difference. All said, this is a beginning and Middle Class Fund shall be there for long time and regularly take up activities His Deverakonda Foundation aims at creating one lakh employment over a period of time and that’s a bigger goal.
