Can These August Releases Revive Box Office?

August has been the most-awaited month in the Telugu film industry as many big films were lined up for release during the month. So far, 2025 has turned out to be disappointing for Tollywood. So, producers and distributors have pinned their hopes on the August releases. There are three big films and numerous small films releasing this month. Here is a look at them.

1. Bakasura Restaurant:

Directed by SJ Shiva, this horror comedy features Praveen, Viva Harsha and others in the main roles. It is slated for release on August 8.

2. Bun Butter Jam:

After being successful in Tamil, this romantic comedy is being dubbed into Telugu now. Starring Raju Jeyamohan, Aadya Prasad and Bhavya Trikha in lead roles, this movie is slated for release on August 8.

3. Maathru:

Starring Sriram and Nandini Rai in lead roles, Maathru is a thriller film which will hit the screens on August 8. It is helmed by John Jakki.

4. War 2:

Starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR in lead roles, this is one of the most-awaited films of this year. Directed by Ayan Mukherjee, War 2 is a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War. Kiara Advani plays the female lead in the film. It is slated for release on August 14.

5. Coolie:

Another biggie, which is going to hit the screens on August 14, clashing with War 2. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, this action thriller features Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role. Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Satyaraj, and Shruti Haasan play other key roles in it.

6. Paradha:

Directed by Praveen Kandregula of Cinema Bandi and Shubham fame, this female-oriented film features Anupama Parameshwaran, Sangeetha and Darshana Rajendran in the lead roles. Paradha grabbed attention with its intriguing teaser and innovative promotions. Amidst decent expectations, it is hitting the screens on August 22.

7. Meghalu Cheppina Prema Katha:

Starring Naresh Agatsya of Mathu Vadalara fame in the lead role, this romantic drama is arriving in theatres on August 22. Directed by Vipin, this film features Rabiya Kahtoon as the female lead.

8. Mass Jathara:

Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja will end the month with the release of his film Mass Jathara. Directed by Bhanu Bhogavarapu, this movie will hit the screens on August 27, on the occasion of Vinayaka Chavithi. It remains to be seen if Ravi Teja, who is going through a rough patch, will score a big hit with this film.

9. Sundarakanda:

Nara Rohit’s long-delayed film Sundarakanda is finally gearing up to hit the screens on August 27. Directed by Venkatesh Nimmalapudi, this film features Sridevi Vijaykumar and Vriti Vaghani as the female leads.
