Producer TG Vishwa Prasad has opened up about the problems troubling the film industry and shared his own bitter experiences, especially with VFX work on his films. In a exclusive interview with Gulte Pro, he spoke frankly about union issues, talent gaps, and production challenges.
Prasad began by pointing to the strikes and disputes involving film unions. He said the lack of a proper wage structure and the high membership fees make it hard for new talent to enter the industry. He also alleged that there is a “nexus” that blocks local artists from growing. As an example, he recalled having to bring dancers from Mumbai for a film shoot, even though talented performers were available in Hyderabad.
The most serious allegation came when he talked about “mafias” in the VFX and sound design sectors. He claimed that during Karthikeya 2 and Bro, a VFX supervisor influenced the director’s decisions and ended up damaging the quality of the final visuals. Coming from a tech background, Prasad said he tries to bring a structured workflow into filmmaking, focusing on proper script analysis and planning while still respecting the creative process.
In a rare moment of honesty, the producer rated his own performance as a “two out of ten,” citing recent box-office failures. But he also spoke about a positive step, launching a new website where aspiring talents, from directors to makeup artists, can apply for jobs. He believes this platform will help fix industry problems, give regular work to artists, and allow producers to challenge weak scripts before they are made.
