Independence Day Week: Big Screen Blockbusters to OTT Thrillers

This is likely the biggest week in Indian cinema this year, as two massive pan-India films are releasing on the same day. Apart from those two biggies, there are several other interesting releases on OTT as well. Here is a look at them:

1. War 2:

Starring Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan in the lead roles, this action thriller is set for a worldwide release on August 14. Directed by Ayan Mukherjee, this movie features Kiara Advani as the female lead.

2. Coolie:

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, this highly anticipated film features Superstar Rajinikanth as the lead. It also features many other stalwarts like Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Satyaraj, Soubin Shahir and Shruti Haasan in key roles. Coolie will clash with War 2 in theatres on August 14.

1. Saare Jahan Se Accha – Netflix – August 13:

Created by Gaurav Shukla, this series features Pratik Gandhi in the lead role. Touted to be a patriotic spy thriller set in the 1970s, Saare Jahan Se Accha will premiere on August 13.

2. Andhera – Amazon Prime Video – August 14:

Andhera is an urban horror thriller created by Gaurav Desai and directed by Raaghav Dhar. It features Priya Bapat, Karanvir Malhotra, Prajakta Koli, Surveen Chawla, Vatsal Sheth, Parvin Dabas and Pranay Pachauri in key roles. It premieres on Prime Video on August 14.

3. Tehran – ZEE5 – August 14:

Starring John Abraham in the lead role, this is another patriotic thriller that is coming this Independence Day weekend. Directed by Arun Gopalan, Tehran features Manushi Chillar as the leading lady. It will premiere on ZEE5 on August 14.

4. Constable Kanakam – August 14:

This is an investigative thriller featuring Varsha Bollamma in the lead role. Directed by Prashanth Kumar, this series will stream on ETV Win from August 14.

5. Janaki V V/s State of Kerala – ZEE5 – August 15:

Starring Suresh Gopi and Anupama Parameswaran in lead roles, this courtroom drama will have its digital release in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Kannada on ZEE5 on August 15.
