Ticket Hikes For War 2 & Coolie: Audience Call It Looting

Telugu film industry is in a critical situation where the audience are not showing interest to turn up at theatres. The producers are struggling in arranging finances, getting in sync with workers federation, selling the film, reeling the pressure from OTT platforms and many more. There is no event in the recent times where the producers did not complain about people not coming to theatres. But, the same producers are turning hypocrites by increasing the ticket prices.

We have seen that the ticket price did not help Hari Hara Veera Mallu in the recent past. Even then, the producers mercilessly opt for ticket price hikes for the dubbing films to exploit the common movie goers. According to the audiences, the producers are looting the audiences and fans and are becoming a reason for the downfall of the film industry. During a press meet yesterday, one of the producers claimed that the producers are burning inside because of many issues. But in reality, they are burning the pockets of the audiences, the audience is countering.

War 2 and Coolie are heading for a clash on August 14th. Surprisingly, both are dubbed films. One of them features Superstar Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna while the other one stars Hrithik Roshan along with NTR. The distributors of both the films appealed for a ticket price hike in the Telugu states. Although the government order has not come, the reports on social media say that there has been a lot of lobbying for the same.

Top Telugu producers brought the distribution rights of the two films for a whopping price. Now, they want to get back their investment faster than the other. If the ticket hike gets an approval, a ticket that would cost upto 200 rupees in a multiplex in Tamilnadu would cost more than 400 in the Telugu states. Both for plexes and single screens, the difference of the ticket price is huge.

The audiences are clearly opposing this move on social media. Since it is a long weekend, the audiences would definitely want to watch a film and if possible both the films. But, the hiked prices will surely let them choose only one. Moreover, the hikes for dubbing films will not justify the intent behind creating the model to hike ticket prices to support high budget films.

Also, if the hike come into existence, it will not only affect the footfalls and will open a new chapter in the downfall of the Telugu film industry, crafted skillfully by the producers who are a part of the same eco system.
