In a big move, the Supreme Court of India has set aside the bail granted to the Kannada star hero Darshan, actress Pavitra and five other accused individuals in the Renuka Swamy murder case. The bench comprising Justice J B Pardiwala and Justice R Mahadevan delivered this order upon hearing the plea filed against the bail granted by the High Court to Darshan and other accused individuals in December 2024.
“We considered everything, the grant of bail as well as cancellation. It is evident that the order of the High Court suffers from serious legal infirmities. The order fails to record any special or cogent reasons for granting bail under Sections 302, and 34 IPC,” stated the bench while delivering the order.
Meanwhile, Darshan has to return to jail just a day before the release of the song “Idre Nemdiyaag Irbek,” from his upcoming film “The Devil”. Earlier, the makers announced that the song would be released on August 15, on the occasion of Independence Day.
Darshan was arrested in June 2024 in connection with the murder of his fan, Renuka Swamy. Later, he was granted bail by the Karnataka High Court in December. Challeging High Court’s order, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court whose verdict was delivered today.
