Shiva Nirvana is teaming up with Raviteja, but it’s not a love story

Shiva Nirvana made a name in Telugu cinema, mostly making films about relationships, emotions and family dynamics. Starting with Ninnu Kori, graduating further to Majili and then Kushi, he just kept on loving love stories and domestic dramas. These films in some ways cemented his identity as a director who could handle emotions; the last two of his films, Tuck Jagadish and Kushi, proved to be unnoticed hits with the masses. Changing industry trends have made directors rethink genres and subjects so as to establish a greater connection with viewers.

Ravi Teja has, with no exception, been a star in commercial Telugu cinema for well over 20 years. Identified with energetic action and mass appeal, he frequently indulges in dance, humor and romance-a mixture-and blended these styles so-nailed them. Somehow, the newer roles have brought mixed verdicts from some sections of the people, and there are questions as to whether his screen image required a change with time. This criticism has pushed the actor into exploring characters and stories that are age-appropriate and align better with contemporary tastes.

Given these conditions, the production company Mythri Movie Makers is getting ready to produce a thriller with director Shiva Nirvana and Ravi Teja in the lead role. This will be Shiva Nirvana’s maiden foray beyond the realms of love stories. It has been said that Ravi Teja is going to be playing a father, the film will not focus much on romance, an area that dominated their respective past works. An official announcement on the project is said to be forthcoming soon.

In a way, this film marks the reunion of Ravi Teja, Shiva Nirvana, and Mythri Movie Makers after their earlier outings, Amar Akbar Anthony starring Ravi Teja and Kushi directed by Shiva Nirvana, both of which failed to make much of an impression. Hence, the new project is very important for the three, keeping in mind that it can unleash a fresh chapter for all of them, In terms of genre transition for Shiva Nirvana; in terms of turbulent on-ground characterization for Ravi Teja and another chance for Mythri Movie Makers in backing a different kind of commercial film.
