Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu, one of the most successful actor-director duos in Tollywood, together delivered a hat trick of blockbusters with Simha, Legend, and Akhanda. Both Balayya and Boyapati have reunited for Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, the keenly awaited sequel to Akhanda, which is progressing at a brisk pace.
Addressing the media in his hometown Nimmakuru earlier today, Balayya made the big announcement. He confirmed that Akhanda 2 will release in the first week of December and that the exact date of release will be announced later.
Balayya went on to say that Akhanda 2’s composer, Thaman, had requested extra time to work on the film’s score, as its span is bigger. “We saw subwoofers blasting in theaters for Akhanda, so he may need more time to do justice to Akhanda 2. The sequel will be 50 times the scale and experience of the first part,” said Balayya.
Akhanda 2 was initially scheduled for release on September 25, 2025. Fans and film circles were eager to see how Akhanda 2’s clash with Pawan Kalyan’s OG will turn out to be. However, the makers of Akhanda 2 recently announced that the film has been postponed indefinitely.
Apparently, Akhanda 2’s post-production and some patchwork are also pending, prompting its makers to delay the film’s release. Also, shifting to December is a wise choice, as it will also avoid a clash with OG, which could definitely impact Akhanda 2’s revenue.
