Dulquer Salmaan is not only a successful actor but is also a successful producer. With his last film, Lokah, DQ earned huge profits that are unimaginable. But, the surprise element was that Dulquer had prepared his mind that he is going to lose money in the first installment. But, in the end, things turned upside down, giving him the biggest surprise of his production career.
Speaking in a recent interview, Dulquer opened up that he was not expecting the film to be a successful one. He also revealed that he had not experienced a situation like this in the journey of his seven movies as a producer.
“This is our 7th film as a producer, but we landed safely with the movie. The success of the movie is unprecedented. The film was blown up so nicely. The pop culture, the VFX, and everything received an appreciation. We were thinking we would lose some money with the first film of this franchise.
However, we could not understand certain calculations of the fim. We know it’s a good film, but the Budget is high & Buyers are not interested. I thought that if this franchise is established, we might make a profit. But this success was unimaginable,” said Dulquer.
On the trade front, Lokah crossed 250 crore rupees by September 15th, and it’s just a little bit away from becoming an all-time industry hit by beating Empuraan, which collected 270 crore. Mostly by this weekend, it will reach that mark if the trend continues.
The first chapter was headlined by a female star, Kalyani Priyadarshan. Directed by Dominic Arun, the further franchises of Lokah will feature Dulquer Salmaan, Tovino Thomas, and even Mammotty.
