5 Telugu Films Miss Out as Janhvi’s Movie Chosen for Oscars

The Oscars are prestigious awards for all filmmakers, and they dream of bagging one in their lifetime. Indian filmmakers have won Oscars in the past, but no Indian film has won an Oscar in the Best Foreign Film category. Interestingly, five Telugu movies were considered for India’s official entry. But these movies could not make it to the final list.

Pushpa 2, Kannappa, Gandhi Thatha Chettu, Kuberaa, and Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam are the Telugu films that were considered. Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun, is a phenomenon in Indian cinema that received huge laurels at the box office. The movie was watched and liked by the majority of the audience. Similarly, Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam is also a big hit commercially. However, the jury usually prefers an art film or a non-commercial mainstream film. In that way, Gandhi Thatha Chettu could have been selected by the jury but it has been ignored.

However, Hindi film Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywa, is India’s official entry into the Oscars. Ishaan Khatter, Jahnvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa played the lead roles in the film.

The film’s plot is: Two childhood friends from a small village in North India dream of becoming police officers, hoping the job will bring them the respect they never had. However, as they come closer to their goal, pressure and struggles create problems in their friendship.

Homebound faced competition from a long list of movies mentioned below:
