47 years ago, on September 22, 1978, the film Pranam Khareedu hit the theatres, quietly introducing a new face named Chiranjeevi. What began with a supporting role, under the direction of K Vasu, soon turned into a phenomenon.
Chiranjeevi’s fearless acceptance of roles with darker shades and uncompromising performances in the early part of his career set him apart from his contemporaries. Within just a few years, his career pivoted dramatically with Khaidi (1983), the action film that established him as a mass hero. From that moment, the name Chiranjeevi became synonymous with Megastar.
Pasivadi Pranam, Yamudiki Mogudu, Atthaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu, JVAS, Gang Leader, Gharana Mogudu, and Indra were among other industry hits delivered by Chiranjeevi.
Chiranjeevi’s journey is more than just a success story. It’s a chapter in the history of Indian cinema. Through a prolific journey of nearly five decades, Chiranjeevi has given innumerable hits, cultivated fan communities across the globe, and stood as a symbol of hard work and determination.
While Chiranjeevi is celebrated for his magnetic screen presence, exceptional dances, and action, his impact extends far beyond cinema. Through the Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust, home to a blood and eye bank, he has helped save thousands of lives. Committed to causes like health and education, he consistently steps up during natural disasters and offers unwavering support to fellow artists.
Even today, his star power is unshaken. With Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu set for Sankranthi, followed by the ambitious Vishwambhara for summer, Chiranjeevi continues to lead from the front. His next big venture with Bobby will start rolling soon.
