Thaman, one of Telugu cinema’s well-known music composers, has been creating hit songs and scores for over 15 years. His recent work for Pawan Kalyan’s film They Call Him OG was widely appreciated.
Before the release, Thaman made headlines with comments about Tamil cinema music. He said in an interview that his work for They Call Him OG would compete with recent Tamil hits like Vikram, Jailer, Beast, and LEO, composed by Anirudh Ravichander. His comments went viral and created high expectations among fans.
They Call Him OG released on September 25. Many liked the songs and background score, especially the theme for the antagonist, OMI. However, some listeners noticed that the track The Theme OMI sounded very similar to Lumi Uni, a song by Albanian singer and composer Irkenc Hyka, which came out a year ago.
Fans on social media have criticized Thaman, saying the composition is copied. His earlier comments about competing with Tamil hits have made the reactions stronger. As of now, Thaman has not responded to the allegations. People are waiting to see if he will address the issue in interviews. Whether Thaman responds or focuses on his new projects, the topic has created a lot of attention in Telugu cinema.
On work front, Thaman is busy with other projects. He is working on the music for Telusu Kada and Akhanda 2, both releasing this year. He is also composing for The Raja Saab, planned for Sankranti 2026.
