Famous character actor in Tamil, Thavasi passed away today. Actor Thavasi was diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer and was being treated in Madurai’s Saravana Multispeciality hospital. Thavasi acted in more than 140 films in supporting roles.
Dr. P Saravanan, Managing director of Saravana Hospital tweeted the bad news and conveyed his condolences to the actor’s family.
His tweet read “Character actor Mr. Thavasi was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and was admitted to our Saravana Hospital on 11.11.2020 (in a very advanced condition). We fitted him with an Oesophageal Stent in the Oesophagus. Receiving treatment in a separate room… Mr. Thavasi was transferred to the emergency department today (23.11.20) due to severe shortness of breath. He died at 08:00 pm without any treatment. I extend my deepest condolences to his relatives, friends, and fans,”.
Thavasi garnered huge appreciation for his role in Sivakarthikeyan’s movie Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, Seemaraja, and also Rajini Murugan. Many Tamil film industry actors extended financial support for Thavasi’s cancer treatment. Vijay Sethupathi, Simbu, Rajinikanth, Sivakarthikeyan, and others helped him during the treatment.
Earlier, Thavasi requested all the fellow actors in the industry to help him recover from the disease so that he will be able to continue his acting. Thavasi pleaded for help and said he never thought he would br affected by such a disease. Thavasi suffered a major accident last year.
