Kantara Chapter 1, which released on Thursday, opened to a big start at the box office. The film collected close to ₹90 crore on its opening day and maintained steady momentum through the extended weekend, taking its four-day gross to around ₹330 crore.
Interestingly, the film had a slow start before release but turned things around after release. On BookMyShow alone, Kantara Chapter 1 sold over one million tickets on its opening day, a rare feat achieved by very few films.
The film continued its strong run with 1.28 million tickets sold on Thursday, 1.27 million on Friday, 1.3 million on Saturday, and 1.04 million on Sunday. That makes it four consecutive days with over one million ticket sales on BookMyShow.
So far, only Pushpa 2: The Rule and Kalki 2898 AD have managed this streak. Pushpa 2 achieved six million-ticket days, while Kalki 2898 AD did it for four. Now, Kantara Chapter 1 has joined that list, marking a major milestone for Rishab Shetty and the team.
With strong word of mouth and higher stakes involved in the prequel, weekday performance will be crucial to see how far it can go. Kantara Chapter 1 stars Rishab Shetty, Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah. Directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films.
