Thalapathy Vijay announced his retirement from movies and also finished the shoot of his last film, Jana Nayagan. The film is currently in the post-production stage, and the team has already confirmed its arrival for January 9th, 2026. However, now, Vijay is not very confident of bringing it on time to theatres because of several factors involved.
First and foremost, Vijay’s confidence levels have been completely shattered by the recent stampede incident at a rally organized by his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The actor is already stuck in a controversy and is also in loggerheads with the government of Tamilnadu. In such a scenario, the controversy will surely surround his new film’s release.
Vijay must come out of these legal issues first to concentrate on the film’s promotions. Otherwise, he will be criticized for being selfish and self-centered without caring for the loss of lives that came to see him. Moreover, the public sentiment is also not entirely in favor of Vijay. His exit from Karur right after the stampede to Madurai did not go well with the public.
As a result, KVN Productions has put promotional activities on hold indefinitely. The film’s success is crucial for Vijay, as he plans to focus on his political career after its release. The film is also likely to be inclined towards his political ideologies.
The team is expected to launch an aggressive promotional campaign for Diwali but with a lot of uncertainity around the actor, nothing is finalized.
