Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is one of the highly anticipated sequels from South cinema because trade circles and audience believe that the long quest for 1000 Crores grosser in Kollywood will end after with this film. The mammoth expectations are due to the fact that the first part emerged as a sensational blockbuster and grossed over 600 Crores worldwide.
Meanwhile, the makers are ensuring that the sequel will be star-studded affair so that there will be huge anticipation beyond South. According to the latest reports, Bollywood’s versatile actress Vidya Balan has landed a significant role in this Nelson Dilip Kumar directional. This marks her full-fledged debut in Tamil as she earlier essayed a cameo role in the 2019 release Nerkonda Paarvai. She made her first outing in South with Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna’s ambitious two part biopic on his father and legendary actor NTR.
The 46 year old actress, who is quite popular for portraying performance oriented roles after her stint as a glamorous on-screen heroine, is reportedly going to be seen as Mithun Chakraborty’s elder daughter in the film. Mithun will be appearing as the prime antagonist in the film and Vidya Balan will have adequate screen time as his daughter. Sources revealed that her role will have a strong connection with the narrative and drives the story forward.
The film is currently being shot in Chennai and will move into post-production by January. After wrapping up the Chennai schedule, the team will be heading to Goa for the remaining portions. The team is said to be planning for a grand release in August next year.
Besides Rajinikanth and Vidya, the film stars Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Mirnaa in key roles with S. J. Suryah joining the cast recently. It will also feature cameos by Shiva Rajkumar, Nandamuri Balakrishna, and Mithun Chakraborty.
