OTT’s Cryptic Post on Kantara Chapter 1 – Too Early?

Kantara: Chapter 1 tells the tale of a legend that belongs to a particular community in Karnataka. When the film’s first part came out, it went on to become a blockbuster without any expectations. Later, the prequel released recently also opened to a big hit at the box office.

Interestingly, now, Amazon Prime Video shares a cryptic message at the arrival of Kantara: Chapter 1 on the streaming platform. As the film is still running in theatres, there is no clarity if the OTT release is happening early.

While the film is still running with decent numbers at theatres, the release hint from OTT platform might affect the upcoming theatrical run. As per trade reports, it minted around 10cr nett only from India and maintained around 15k per hour booking trend in BMS. The last weekend helped the film gain a little traction. Without any promotions, the film is still preferable for a lot of audiences across the nation.

Moreover, everyone believes that Kantara: Chapter 1 is a movie that should be experienced in theatres and not on the OTT platform. In such a scenario, we have to see if the OTT release timing become advantageous or kill the interest.
