Rashmika’s Work-Life Balance Statement Triggers Debate

Actors often tend not to maintain a proper work-life balance due to their inconsistent and hectic work schedules. This is a major problem for many actors and other individuals working in the film industry. In a recent interview with Gulte pro during the promotions of her upcoming film “The Girlfriend”, Rashmika Mandanna was asked about her earlier statement of not having a proper eight hours of sleep in years and how she is managing her work and personal life right now.

Responding to the same, Rashmika said that overworking is not good and not worth it. She mentioned that though it is not in her hands right now, she would not choose to overwork, and she also wished there might be a 9-to-6,5,4 work life for actors and film crews too, just like the way offices do.

She said, “I think us glorifying the fact of overworking is not good. I overwork and I suggest you not to do it. It’s not sustainable. Do what is comfortable for you and get those 8, 9, or 10 hours (of sleep), because that is going to save you in the later ages. I have seen many people discussing these work timings recently. I have done both, and I am telling you, this is not worth it.”

“If I could choose for myself, I would say, please don’t make us do that because there’s already a lot going on, not just for actors but for directors, lightmen, and musicians too.” You know how office timings are, like 9-6 or 9-5 or 9-4, let us have that. Because there is a family life I want to focus on, there is still my sleep I want to get in, and I would still want to work out because later on, I should not regret that I wish I was fit and healthy working out when I was younger. It’s not in my hands right now, but I am thinking about the future,” she went on to add.

Speaking about her future, Rashmika said, “I am not even a mother, but I know I am gonna have kids. I love that and it is going to happen. But I already feel something for these little human beings that are not even born yet. I want to do everything for them, and I want to keep them so safe and protected. If I am supposed to get into a war, I need to be fit enough to go fight a war for them.”

“I always have in mind that from 20 to 30, we should keep working. From 30 to 40s, it is going to be work-life balance, and I have to ensure that it happens. And 40 onwards, we don’t know. I still haven’t thought that far,” Rashmika added.

Rashmika’s statement on maintaining a healthy work-life balance has sparked a wide debate on social media, with many comparing her views to a few top Bollywood actresses who have also faced criticism for their personal choices regarding work and rest.

However, unlike others, Rashmika shared a thoughtful and relatable perspective. Her comments not only reflected her personal struggles but also highlighted the larger issue of mental and physical well-being in the entertainment industry, as she mentioned directors, lightmen, and musicians as well.
