It wasn’t long before Cricket was more like a religion in India and people used to be absolutely glued to the television screens when India was playing any format of the game. But that is not even remotely the case these days.
For instance, we have the first T20 game between India and Afghanistan, which started today and many people who even follow the sport of Cricket have no clue of the same.
This opening T20 game between India and Afghanistan could not create any public discourse on social media and nor was able to generate any substantial interest from the Cricket following community global.
India was able to beat Afghanistan by a comprehensive margin of seven wickets and nearly 7 over to spare, but this can account for literally nothing fans are not involved with the activity in the first place.
One of the main factors for this lack of buzz and anticipation is the absence of legendary players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who havre retired from the T20 and test format. On top of that, there has been far too much Cricket action happening with multiple series’ all over.
All these factors have combined to absolutely dissipate any kind of anticipation that is generally seen within the Indian Cricket ranks. At this rate, fans might be completely dissociated from upcoming series against small teams in the future as well.
