Back-to-Back All-Time Records for AR Rahman

AR Rahman, one of India’s most celebrated music composers, is once again proving why he stands apart from the rest. While today’s music industry thrives on streaming numbers and viral trends, Rahman continues to focus on the craft and yet, his latest tracks are topping the charts like never before.

After a long gap, Rahman is back in Telugu cinema with Peddi, starring Ram Charan under Buchi Babu Sana’s direction. The film’s team kickstarted the music campaign well ahead of its release, banking on Rahman’s signature style that grows stronger with time. The first single, Chikiri Chikiri, was unveiled on November 7, and it has taken the internet by storm.

Within 24 hours of its release, the playful number sung by Mohit Chauhan registered 46 million views across languages, the highest ever for any Indian song. The Telugu version alone fetched 32 million views, setting a new all-time record. The Hindi dubbed version too surprised everyone, crossing 10 million views in a day, which is rare for a song from a Telugu film.

Just a week ago, Rahman delivered another record-breaking track with Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon. The intense romantic number, sung by Arijit Singh, became the most-viewed Hindi film song in 24 hours with 25 million views.

While names like Anirudh Ravichander, Thaman and Devi Sri Prasad are dominating the current numbers game, Rahman’s recent streak reminds everyone that true music has its own pace and when it hits, it hits big.

With Peddi, Rahman’s return to Telugu cinema couldn’t have been louder. The maestro has once again struck the perfect balance between melody and mass appeal.
