Dulquer Salmaan starrer Kaantha has created a huge amount of anticipation prior to the release. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj and produced by Dulquer and Rana Daggubati, Kaantha has been described as a “rare film” that celebrates cinema, by both of them. Rana, Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri Borse are part of ensemble cast.
Rana Daggubati confirmed that the film is a fictional story inspired by the dynamics of the 1950s film industry, focusing on the conflicts between two great artists seeking perfection. He consulted with his father, Suresh Babu, whose experience in those studios proved invaluable for technical inputs, emphasizing the challenge of recreating that time period authentically.
Regarding the technical aspects, Rana revealed the team took immense care, even sourcing rare equipment and items that were previously used on the sets of legendary films like Patala Bhairavi. Furthermore, they searched for hand-painting artists to design the posters, underscoring their commitment to period detail. DOP Dani Sanchez-Lopez, known for Mahanati was chosen for his unique perspective, bringing an “epic feeling” to the film.
Rana and Dulquer both have revealed that they are mad about films and hence, they have decided to be a part of it, also produce it. They both in unison appreciated director Selvamani and stated that his impeccable vision will be on display in theatres from 14th November, worldwide.
