The title reveal event of the film Varanasi at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad turned unexpectedly tense. During the trailer play, a sudden technical malfunction on the large LED screen irritated director S. S. Rajamouli. The issue came at the worst possible moment, with millions watching the live telecast.
According to industry buzz, Rajamouli was already upset because a drone camera operated without permission the previous night prevented the team from doing proper test checks. When the LED screen froze during the event, his frustration only grew.
But the controversy did not come from the glitch alone. During his speech, Vijayendra Prasad said that Lord Hanuman was guiding Rajamouli through the project. Reacting out of frustration, Rajamouli said that he does not believe in God and questioned why such problems were happening if Hanuman was truly driving the project forward. He also mentioned that his wife feels a deep spiritual connection to Hanuman, but even then, moments like this make him wonder.
Supporters of Rajamouli say he spoke out of stress and emotion. They point out that his films, including Baahubali and RRR, have portrayed mythological elements with great respect. They also argue that even deeply spiritual people express frustration in difficult moments.
Varanasi itself is filled with mythological references including Shiva, Rama, Nandi, Hanuman, and many other divine elements. Many fans feel that Rajamouli’s brief reaction should not be turned into a major controversy.
Movie lovers now feel that a short clarification video from Rajamouli could settle the issue and prevent further misunderstanding.
