Balayya and Rajini To Get A Rare Honor Together

Legendary actors of South Indian cinema, Rajinikanth and Nandamuri Balakrishna, who are celebrating 50 years in the film industry, will be honoured at the closing ceremony of the upcoming International Film Festival of India in Goa. Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L. Murugan announced the news at a media meet in Goa.

He said that Rajinikanth and Balakrishna will be felicitated by the government at IFFI’s closing ceremony, for completing 50 years in cinema, a milestone that celebrates their enduring influence on Indian film culture. He added that this felicitation recognises Rajinikanth and Balayya’s iconic body of work, widespread popularity, and contribution to shaping Indian storytelling across decades.

Rajinikanth made his acting debut with the 1975 film Apoorva Raagangal. Since then, he has acted in many successful movies over the last five decades and has become one of the iconic actors in Indian cinema. On the other side, Balayya also acted in more than 100 films in his 50-year-old career. He is also an active politician, serving as the MLA of Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh. Coincidentally, Balayya was also honoured with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award earlier this year.

This year’s edition of IFFI will be held from November 20-November 27 in Goa. The closing ceremony of the festival will be organised at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium. A total of 7500 delegates registered for this festival. Around 270 films from 84 countries will be screened at this prestigious film festival.
