Big Statement From Another Debute Director

After scoring a blockbuster with Little Hearts just a few months ago, ETV Win and Bunny Vaas are arriving with their new film, Raju Weds Rambai. This movie is slated for worldwide release tomorrow (November 21). There is a good buzz around the film, especially about its climax. Amidst this decent anticipation, the film’s director, Saailu Kaampati, made a big challenge.

Speaking at the pre-release event last night, Saailu said that if the film gets a negative response, he would run wearing just an underwear at Ameerpet junction. He appealed to people to watch the film, but not to spread any unnecessary negative talk about it, influencing others. He expressed confidence that everyone would definitely like the film.

These days, we see many actors and directors making such challenges on stage before the release of the film. It can be taken as a strategy to bring audiences to theatres amidst tight competition with other films. It’s good to see a debutant director showing such confidence in his product, and at the end of the day, the industry would benefit if the movie clicks at the box office. Meanwhile, the makers announced that the ticket prices are capped at Rs. 99 for single screens and Rs. 105 in multiplexes, which would be an advantage. However, though the single-screen prices are as mentioned, the multiplex prices are Rs. 150 on the online ticketing sites. It remains to be seen if makers give any clarity about the same.

Anyway, this low-ticket price would be a good move for the makers to draw people to theatres. They are also hosting a few paid premieres tonight. If the movie manages to get positive talk from these shows, there might be significant growth in footfalls from tomorrow.

Raju Weds Rambai features Akhil Uddemari and Tejaswi Rao in lead roles. Shivaji Raja and Chaitanya Jonnalagadda played other key roles in it. Venu Udugula and Rahul Mopidevi have bankrolled the project.
