Upendra talks openly about fame, films, politics, and the kind of life he wants to live. He remembers the time after his film Om released, when he suddenly became very famous. At first, all the attention felt uncomfortable because he liked moving around freely and observing people without being noticed. Later, he slowly started enjoying the love and respect he received. He says he wanted fame only because he believed it would help him create social change. As he grew older, his thinking also changed. First he felt he was right and society was wrong. Then he felt he had problems and others were right. Finally, he reached a stage where he believes everything is correct in its own way.
Talking about cinema, Upendra says people enjoy watching a hero who solves every problem because they secretly wish someone would come and fix their own life. But he wants to break this idea. He wants his films to tell the audience that they have the power to change. He wants every person watching his movie to feel like they have the same strength as the hero on screen. He accepts that changing this mindset takes time because people are used to regular commercial formulas.
His political thoughts are also very strong. He feels the current system encourages people to wait for a leader to fix everything. He believes the system itself needs change and people must participate directly. If a village needs something, the people should decide together and hold the worker accountable instead of waiting for a leader. He links this passive attitude to an education system that trains children to memorize rather than think.
Upendra says UI reflects these ideas. He always tells his fans not to follow him blindly, but to think. He believes everyone must decide how much money is enough and focus on what they can give back to society.
