Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra passed away at the age of 89 today. Earlier, there were rumors about his passing away, which the family condemned. Now, the news has been made official. Karan Johar and many other film personalities took to social media to confirm the same.
“Today there is a gaping hole in our industry … a space that can never be filled by anyone … there will always be the one and only DHARAMJI… we love you kind Sir…. We will miss you so much…. The heavens are blessed today…. It will always be my blessing to have worked with you….” wrote Karan Johar.
Dharmendra was unwell for the past several days and was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. The actor was later discharged and was receiving treatment at his home.
In a career spanning over six decades, Dharmendra worked on a number of blockbusters. Sholay, Dharam Veer, Seeta Aur Geeta, Chupke Chupke, Ghazab, Do Dishayen, Ankhen, Shikar, Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Jeevan Mrityu, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, and many more are his famous works.
Dharmendra is survived by his two wives, Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini and his six children, including Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol.
