PK’s Ustaad – Producer Breaks Silence on the ‘Remake’ Buzz

The shooting formalities of Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming cop drama Ustaad Bhagat Singh have been wrapped up and the makers are looking for an ideal release date in April next year. Yet the suspense on whether the film is an official remake of Thalapathy Vijay’s blockbuster Theri or not still continues.

While director Harish Shankar remained tight lipped about this news, the makers have been repeatedly claiming that the film won’t give any remake feel. But, there has been a strong buzz in the industry circles and the media that Ustaad Bhagat Singh is loosely based on the story Theri as the core point was retained for the Telugu version.

Harish Shankar is known for giving a fresh treatment to remake scripts by adding Telugu flavour and mass elements to suit the sensibilities of Tollywood audience. It is believed that he has made suitable changes to ‘Theri’ script keeping Pawan Kalyan’s mannerisms in mind in a similar manner to what he did with Gabbar Singh which was an official remake of Salman Khan’s Dabangg.

Recently, Mythri Movie Makers producer Ravi exuded confidence that Ustaad Bhagat Singh will exceed all expectations because of the strong content in the script.

He asserted that the film will create a sensation at the box office and that there won’t be any “remake feel” in the movie. These statements have also created some uncertainty about whether UBS is actually a remake or not.

So, we have to wait for the start of promotions to know whether Harish Shankar’s story is inspired by Theri or not. The team is planning to release the first single for new year.
