December is here, and the biggest release of the year, Avatar 3, is set to hit the screens on the 19th of this month. Directed by James Cameron, Avatar: Fire and Ash is the third instalment of the successful cinematic franchise. However, the hype for this film in India is not up to the mark, compared to its predecessors.
There might be two reasons behind this low pre-release buzz. Firstly, when Avatar was released back in 2009, there was a lot of anticipation around it. The film also went on to become a huge blockbuster at the box office and emerged as the highest-grossing film of all time.
Due to the massive success of Avatar, there was a huge hype around Avatar: Fire and Water when it hit the screens in 2022. However, the film received decent response from the audience. Especially in India, Avatar 2 opened well but failed to sustain its run at the box office. As a result, collections were not as huge as expected.
Secondly, the teasers and trailers of Avatar 3 were underwhelming too. Many people felt that the film looked like an extension of Avatar 2 with no new elements. Unless James Cameron brings something new both visually and story-wise, something he hasn’t shown in the earlier parts, Avatar 3 may not have a strong chance of doing well in theatres.
