Thalapathy Vijay plans to end his film career with Jana Nayagan. The film is slated for a grand release during Sankranthi next year. Interestingly, the film’s business is so good that it is surprising the trade. The overall worldwide gross that the film must collect to attain the breakeven status is 500 Cr rupees.
As we had reported earlier, probably Thalapathy Vijay is one of the big stars who are doing insane business and big numbers irrespective of the movie’s result. Vijay’s last couple of films did not win critical acclaim, but still there is no dip in his market. Now, for Jana Nayagan, there is a big anticipation that it will be his last film.
The fans and audiences are pretty excited to witness Vijay’s last film, and the film is also expected to give a political mileage for Vijay. In terms of the box office revenues, the average flick Varisu (Vaarasudu) collected 300 cr rupees gross. Had the film attained a blockbuster hit, it would have set the box office on fire.
In such a scenario, if Jana Nayagan clicks, collecting 500 Cr rupees will be a cake walk for Vijay. The breakdown of the breakeven is such that the film needs to make more than 200 Cr rupees in Tamil Nadu alone. The market of Telugu states, Karnataka and Kerala combined is more than 100 Cr rupees with the overseas counted at more than 200 Cr rupees again.
Directed by H Vinoth, the film features Mamitha Baiju, and Pooja Hegde.
