Dhurandhar Sees Massive Jump, Strong Weekend On Cards

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar seems to be offsetting mixed reviews to have a strong first weekend at the Bollywood box office, thanks to lack of competition from other films in any language. After taking an impressive start on the first day with 27 Crores net opening at the domestic market, the film witnessed a terrific growth in revenues on Saturday. 

According to reliable trade reports, Dhurandhar earned 31 Crores net on the second day across all territories in India to take the two days total to 58 Crores. Compared to the opening day, there is an uptick of 15% in the collections on the second day. Just like on the first day, the spy action thriller saw moderate occupancies for morning and matinee shows before picking up momentum during night shows in all major centres.

Going by the trend of bookings on Sunday, the film is likely to complete the first weekend on a terrific note with India net alone set to touch 90 Crore net and the worldwide total aiming past the 100 Crores with ease. If the film manages to continue its promising run for the next few days without huge drop on weekdays, it will be one of the biggest grossers in Ranveer Singh’s career. As of now, it is trending better than many of his recent films. 

Interestingly, the film benefited largely due to lack of any other big-ticket releases in Telugu or Tamil. As Tollywood’s most hyped film of the season Akhanda 2 got postponed in the last minute, Dhurandhar saw encouraging footfalls in some of big cities in Telugu states like Hyderabad and Vijayawada despite not having a dubbed release. 

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film has Ranveer Singh as an undercover agent. It features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and few others in prominent roles.
