Silence on Akhanda 2 Release Date Troubles Small Movies

Akhanda 2 was supposed to release on December 5. The team postponed it at the last minute and said a new date would be announced soon. Since then, there has been no update. This gap has created confusion for several small films lined up for December.

The team is reportedly considering two dates: December 12 and December 25. December 12 is seen as the earliest option, helping the film make use of its current buzz. December 25 offers a holiday weekend, which could boost box office numbers.

The issue is simple. With no major releases planned earlier, small films locked these dates for their own openings. Films, including Mowgli, Psych Siddhartha and Eesha, are scheduled for December 12. With only a few days left, the lack of clarity from the Akhanda 2 team has left these producers unsure about continuing promotions. If the big film arrives on the same date, their efforts and budgets may go to waste, forcing them to restart planning.

Mowgli actor Bandi Saroj, who plays the antagonist in the film, openly criticised 14 Reels Plus for the delay. He said the silence is affecting producers, fans and distributors, and urged the team to confirm the release date.

On the other side, 14 Reels Plus is dealing with legal procedures linked to the film’s release. This has slowed down the decision. For now, reports suggest December 12 is the more likely date. Small films will have to decide whether to go ahead or step aside if Akhanda 2 arrives that weekend.
