December Becomes Big Month At Box Office Post COVID

December is considered one of the favourable seasons for the film industry, considering the extensive holiday season. However, the month turned out to be bigger in the post-COVID era, producing at least a blockbuster every year.

Now, already, Dhurandhar has become the first blockbuster of the month, and Akhanda 2 aims to become the second one.

In 2021, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda became blockbusters at the box office after releasing in December. Though 2022 was not a big season, we witnessed two more big blockbusters in December 2023, in the form of Animal and Salaar. In 2024, Allu Arjun created havoc at the box office with Pushpa 2.

On the first Friday of December 2025, Dhurandhar hit the screens and emerged as a massive hit at the box office. Even Akhanda 2 was supposed to release on the same day, but it was pushed to December 12 due to financial hurdles.

Now, all eyes are on Boyapati Srinu’s directorial starring Nandamuri Balakrishna. Expectations are riding high on this anticipated sequel, and all it needs is a positive talk to become a huge hit at the box office.

Paid premieres of Akhanda 2 will be held tomorrow, and the film is slated for grand release on Friday. Let’s see if Balayya carries the momentum started by Dhurandhar and makes this December 2025 bigger.
