Akhanda 2 Producers Open Up: Who Supported Them in the Crisis?

It is an open secret that Akhanda 2 was postponed from December 5 to December 12 due to pending dues that weren’t cleared by 14 Reels Plus for their earlier projects with Eros International and other financiers. This led to legal disputes and financial issues. Sorting out these long-pending matters within a week is tough, and it clearly required strong support from within the industry. So who stepped in?

Akhanda 2 released on Friday, with premieres on Thursday, and opened to solid occupancies and impressive revenues. Producers Raam Achanta and Gopi Achanta interacted with the media to share how the film has been received by the press, fans, and the general audience.

They began the press meet by apologizing to Nandamuri Balakrishna, Boyapati Sreenu, fans of Balakrishna, and the audience for the postponement of Akhanda 2. Speaking about the hurdles, they said they never expected such issues to arise at the last moment. They expressed their gratitude to two key people: Dil Raju and Mango Mass Media’s Ram. According to them, the entire industry stood by them, and Dil Raju played a crucial role by stepping in first.

Talking about the box office performance, the film grossed around ₹10 crore from the Telugu states through Thursday night premieres alone. Karnataka added ₹1 crore nett, placing it in the Top 5 for non-Kannada films. The film is registering housefuls on Friday and through the weekend, and the team is confident Saturday and Sunday will be even stronger.

They added that despite mixed reviews from the media, the ground report is fabulous, and they expect the momentum to continue. On post-release promotions, they confirmed that success events and a series of other activities are planned to sustain the film until the Sankranthi releases.
