Amid Controversy, CM Revanth Is Set To Unveil The SPB Statue

In June this year, the Telangana government has agreed to install a statue of legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam at the iconic cultural centre Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad as a mark of respect for his contribution to the music world and also to give a befitting tribute for his legacy.

However, some proclaimed Telangana activists opposed the move and created unnecessary furore a few days ago at the place of installation as they claimed that SPB was against the bifurcation of the state. There was a heated altercation between these activists and SPB’s close family members and the controversy has raised doubts on whether the proposed inauguration will go ahead smoothly or not. 

As per the latest reports, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is all set to unveil the statue of Balasubrahmanyam next monday at Ravindra Bharathi in a grand manner. Revanth has obliged the request made by Music Cultural Association of Telangana and SP Balasubrahmanyam’s brother in law Subhalekha Sudhakar’s invitation to attend this event. 

Former Vice president Venkayya Naidu and Telangana Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka and Central Minister Kishan Reddy will also grace the occasion to pay tributes to one of the most celebrated singers of the country. Tollywood music composers MM Keeravani and SS Thaman along with notable singers and close family members of SPB will attend the event. 

The decision to install a statue at Ravindra Bharathi was made to honour the wishes of the legendary singer after the Music Cultural Association has come up with the proposal which the Telangana government has acceded to without any second thoughts Moreover, Revanth Reddy’s attendance on December 15th will further put an end to whatever needless controversy that was triggered due to the over action of some miscreants in the name of agitation.
