Despite Mixed Talk, Akhanda 2 Opens Big!

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2, which was originally scheduled for release last week, finally arrived in theatres this week with grand premieres. Due to multiple delays and hurdles, expectations were low before release. However, the film surprised trade circles by opening to strong numbers despite mixed reviews.

According to trade reports, Akhanda 2 collected over ₹40 crore gross worldwide on its first day. Official figures are yet to be announced by the producers. When premiere collections are added, the total is expected to cross ₹50 crore. The film has received a strong response from B and C centres, where Balakrishna’s mass appeal remains solid.

Though there is criticism and comparison with the first part, Akhanda 2 seems to be connecting well with the core audience. The mass moments and devotional elements are working in its favour.

Collections from other language versions are below initial expectations. While the team promoted the film in Hindi, there was limited outreach in other states. Still, the Dharma and Hindutva themes may attract more North Indian audiences in the coming days.

With the weekend ahead, Akhanda 2 has a fair chance to add solid numbers at the box office. Directed by Boyapati Srinu, the film is produced by 14 Reels Plus Entertainment.
