Drishyam is hands-down the most successful franchise of Indian cinema in the thriller genre. This is because of the fact that the first two parts gained critical acclaim and commercial success not just in the original language but also in all other languages they were remade.
Now, the stage is set for the third installment of this hit series. Director Jeetu Joseph has already wrapped up the shooting formalities of the Malayalam version in quick time. Superstar Mohan Lal has once again headlined the crime saga. But, the team has not yet announced the release date.
Meanwhile, the Hindi adaptation starring Ajay Devgn is getting ready to hit the screens on October 2nd next year as per an official announcement today. Still, there is no official news yet on the Telugu remake.
The uncertainty on when the Telugu version goes on floors puts the makers in a tricky situation because they cannot opt for a different release date as such plans may reveal the original plot twists in the narrative and thereby spoiling the enthusiasm of Telugu moviegoers after the Malayalam and Hindi versions hit the screens.
If Jeetu Joseph and his team fails to come up with a simultaneous release for all three languages, they will need to come up with a different plot twists for the Telugu version to keep the anticipation intact. This is the only way they pique the curiosity of moviegoers as spoilers will storm social media on the very day when other versions release.
Victory Venkatesh, who played the lead role in the first two parts, is likely to be lead protagonist in the third part as well.
Reports suggest that Drishyam 3 is aiming for a Dasara 2026 release. If this plan materialises, Venkatesh may have to manage his commitments carefully, which could mean handling both Drishyam 3 and Trivikram’s film during the same period. However, there is no official clarity yet, and this remains only a possibility for now.
