With no star hero films releasing during the Christmas season, medium and small budget movies have gained a clear advantage at the box office. Audiences looking for decent entertainment are choosing films that are getting positive word of mouth. Shambala has benefited the most from this situation.
As officially announced by the team, Shambala collected around Rs 3.30 crore gross on its first day, which is a strong number considering Adi Sai Kumar’s market range. The film’s promotions, combined with decent content and positive public talk, are helping it perform well in theaters.
The film’s long term performance will depend on the weekday drop, especially Monday. However, Shambala is in a safe zone. Break even and profits are expected to come quickly, and if collections remain steady till Sunday, the film is likely to enter the profit zone comfortably.
To push the film further, the Shambala team has stepped up promotions once again. A press meet was held the other day, and Adi Sai Kumar is planning to visit theaters to interact directly with audiences. Another Christmas release Eesha is showing average bookings, the horror genre is helping it despite of negative reviews.
Adding to the confidence, the film’s OTT deal is reportedly closed for Rs 10 crore, placing the producers in a very safe position. With Shambala’s success, Adi Sai Kumar appears to be back on track. His upcoming film SI Yugandhar is gearing up for release, and business prospects are expected to improve significantly.
