After Avatar, Here Is Another Disaster From Hollywood

Hollywood entered the Christmas 2025 season with high expectations, especially with the release of Avatar Fire and Ash. Although the film opened with strong numbers worldwide, the response in India has been mixed. Early reactions clearly indicate that the excitement around the Avatar franchise is much lower compared to its earlier installments. Unlike Avatar and Avatar The Way of Water, which turned into massive hits in India, this latest chapter has failed to connect with Indian audiences.

Along with Avatar, Hollywood also brought back another familiar name during the same holiday season, Anaconda (2025). The franchise began with the 1997 cult classic Anaconda, which became hugely popular across the globe. In India, the Telugu dubbed version performed extremely well in the united Andhra Pradesh. Despite its short runtime, the original film terrified audiences with its giant snake concept and intense narration.

However, the latest version has failed to live up to that legacy. Director Tom Gormican takes the film in a comedy direction instead of focusing on horror and suspense. As a result, Anaconda (2025) feels more like a spoof than a serious survival thriller. Many viewers and critics feel the humor is forced and the thrills are missing.

The story revolves around four friends who are die hard fans of the original Anaconda. They decide to remake the film and travel to the Amazon forests with a fake snake. Their plan goes wrong when they encounter real anacondas in the jungle. While the idea had potential, the execution turns silly, with dangerous situations treated as jokes rather than tense moments.

Despite being only around ninety minutes long, the film feels stretched due to unnecessary comedy and long dialogues. Even when the real snakes appear, the movie fails to create fear or urgency. Weak writing, average visual effects, and poor tonal balance make the experience forgettable.

Just like earlier sequels, Anaconda (2025) survives mainly on nostalgia. But it does not offer the fear or excitement audiences expect from the franchise. When seen together, Avatar Fire and Ash and Anaconda (2025) prove that big Hollywood brands are not guaranteed successes anymore. Without strong storytelling and clear vision, even iconic franchises can end up as major disappointments.
