Champion is a sports and period action drama with patriotic elements. Roshan and Anaswara Rajan played the lead roles in the movie. The team held success meet today.
Producer Swapna Dutt made an interesting statement, saying that at Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema, they prefer creating strong, content-driven, and challenging films rather than projects that don’t require much effort or risk.
“Producers Kiran, GK Mohan, and Zee were extremely supportive. I handled the production for this movie, and they never questioned the budget. We feel happy making films like this. When Pradeep narrated the story to me, I was excited. At that time, we were busy with Sita Ramam and Kalki, and we were discussing who should play Michael—whether a big hero or a young hero. GK Mohan sent Roshan’s photo, saying, ‘We found Michael.’ Roshan dedicated more than three years of his prime time to this movie.
The common opinion in the industry is that Srikanth’s son has charming looks and will become a big star. We indeed wanted an actor with no baggage for the character. I feel happy that today, Champion has made Roshan a star.”
Roshan shared his emotional connection to the film, highlighting unforgettable experiences during the shoot, particularly the Bairanpally episodes. “Swarna akka is like an elder sister to me. She gave me a lot of encouragement and confidence. I can also never forget the support of Gemini Kiran and GK Mohan. I don’t know why Kalyan Chakravarthy stopped doing movies, but I hope he will continue now.”
