One of the greatest filmmakers in global cinema, James Cameron is once again making waves at the worldwide box office. Even one of his comparatively weaker films, Avatar: Fire and Ash, is tracking decently and keeping him on course to create history.
However, the film is not performing at the level of the previous parts. The word of mouth is mixed, and collections are just decent, though not poor.
Considering the fact that this 3rd instalment of the Avatar franchise has already crossed $750 million globally it is very well on course to touch the 1 billion mark very soon.
The interesting fact, here is that this would be the fourth straight film of Cameron to touch the 1 billion mark globally. He would become the first director in the history of global cinema to achieve the feat of having four films back-to-back in the $1 billion category.
It must be noted that Cameron first created this mark with Titanic, which had released in 1997, and this was followed by two other creations in the form of the avatar franchise(1st and 2nd parts). And now he is on track to enter this famed $1 billion mark again with the third and most recent part of Avatar franchise.
Avatar is not as sensational as the earlier instalments in global markets, but thanks to a good domestic run, the film is posting good box office numbers.
On the other hand, it does not need to cross $2 billion like the previous parts to be considered a commercial success, as its breakeven target is around $1.6 billion. Even crossing that mark will not be easy, but the New Year window is still open for Cameron. If he manages it, it would be insane.
