A Lucky Gap for Psych Siddhartha!

The rush of Christmas releases has now slowed down at the box office. While Shambhala managed to reach its expected target and Eesha survived despite mixed talk and reviews, Champion is showing signs of struggle. Even though the makers claim over eleven crore collections in the first weekend, weekday drops suggest that it may not be enough to secure a hit status. Unlike films that gain momentum with repeated holidays, Shambhala and Eesha do not seem to have that advantage. They may continue in key centres for another week, but all eyes are now shifting to the New Year releases.

Among the films releasing on January 1, Psych Siddhartha starring Nandu is the most talked about. Though not produced by Suresh Babu himself, the film impressed him enough to take up its release through Suresh Productions. Directed by Varun Reddy, the film revolves around a carefree youngster dealing with life after a breakup, with a parallel love story involving a simple girl next door. The content appears fresh and different.

Nandu is seen in full energy after a long time and has clearly worked hard on his look and performance. His effort to appear younger and lively stands out. Compared to other New Year releases that are struggling to create buzz, Psych Siddhartha has a clear advantage.

If the film manages decent word of mouth, it can enjoy steady collections for at least a week. With The Raja Saab arriving only on January 9, Psych Siddhartha has a good window to attract audiences. A positive response could not only help it break even but also bring profits, making it a safe and sensible option for theatres during the festive period.
