Megastar Chiranjeevi’s festival release Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu took a sensational start at the box office despite releasing on Monday, thanks to the impressive pre-release buzz and unanimous reports from premiere shows all over.
According to the makers, the Anil Ravipudi directional opened with a worldwide gross of 84 Crores on the first day. This is a superb opening for a film which hit the screens on a weekday and that too even before the start of the festival. But, the team has missed a golden opportunity by opting for a Monday release.
Trade pundits predict that the film could have witnessed a 100 Crore opening had it released on Sunday instead of Monday which was a regular working for the public. Releasing on Sunday might have helped the collections further due to the weekend advantage.
Even in Overseas, the Monday release impacted the collections to some extent. Though Chiranjeevi shattered his own premieres day records as the film amassed over more than $ 1.5 Million gross, it could have grossed close to $ 2.5 Million if the premiere shows were scheduled for Saturday instead of Sunday.
Nevertheless, it is a solid start for Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu. As the word of mouth is promising with festival holidays turning into a big advantage, the film will create a storm at the ticket windows going by the current trend of bookings.
Despite a few shortcomings in the story, the nonstop entertainment factor proved to be biggest asset for Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu. Chiru’s comedy timing and impeccable dances laden with grace are the biggest selling points for the film.
Produced by Sahu Garapati and Sushmitha Konidela, the film stars Nayantara as the female lead.
